Aircraft Eddy Current Inspection

Eddy current inspection detects surface and near-surface discontinuities in conductive materials — the primary method for finding fatigue cracks in aluminum aircraft structure.

Section 01

How Eddy Current Inspection Works

A probe induces electrical currents in the conductive part. Cracks and other discontinuities disturb that current, producing an indication on the instrument. The method is fast, sensitive, and typically requires little or no paint removal.

Section 02

Aircraft Eddy Current Applications

  • Crack detection in aluminum skins and structure
  • Fastener-hole and fastener-row inspection where applicable
  • Wheel and fitting inspection where specified
  • Corrosion and conductivity checks where applicable
  • Verification after structural repair

Mobile Eddy Current Inspection

Jax Aerospace is based at Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine. Mobile service is available throughout Florida and the Southeast depending on job scope, aircraft location, repair requirements, and equipment. Where a repair is better performed in a controlled environment, components can be brought to our facility.
